Donkey Kong 'Real Life'

This is something I have wanted to do for a very long time, and have made a couple attempts at in the past. What made the difference this time was the “base” picture of an orangutan face for DK, it had the perfect mouth and jaw. So, that’s where I started.

Most of Donkey Kong is from different orangutans, with his brows and ear from a chimpanzee, and gorilla eyes. His hairdo is from a pic of the singer for La Roux. (that was actually a piece that was a lot easier to find than I thought it would be) And, his tie is my own photography.

The baby orangutan for Diddy was so funny, that I didn’t want to change it too much. So I ended up just making his mouth a little bigger, and changing the eyes (baby human eyes). It probably could have looked a lot more like Diddy actually looks, but I didn’t want to wreck it. His shirt and hat are also my own photography. And the arms are from another baby orangutan. I tried a version with some stars on his shirt, but it kind of distracted from the rest of the picture. (the background is also from the internet)

This turned out so much better than I ever expected it could, and I’m quite happy with it. Now I have to look for a nice bamboo and rope frame so I can hang it on the wall.
